And so the BotCon website has been updated to start to promote next year's event. Whilst no date or venue have been confirmed the website claims that everything we know "...will be shattered". There's nothing of interest on the site apart from a pretty poor QuickTime video. However, if someone could help me with the background art. The centre mold is obviously Classics Optimus Prime and the one on the left is Autovolt from Galaxy Force. But I can't quite peg the one on the right. Any thoughts people?

The shoulder looks like Cybertron Hotshot, but I don't think it is.

Actually, I think you might be right. I've just taken a look at some pictures of Excillion and it looks pretty much about right. I was thinking for a second he might be a Classics Hot Rod but then we've already got one of those (Assuming Autovolt appears as Classics Smokescreen). I'm interested to see how those figures gonna shatter everything we know.
I doubt many (if any) people here are considering going to this but, on the off chance, it's on 24th-28th of April at the Duke Energy Centre in Cincinnati, Ohio.

You better watch out if you go Spec. If the figure set is half-decent you'll be inundated with requests to get it from various people. From the background image I'm wondering if a Nemesis or Motormaster repaint of Classics Optimus Prime is gonna be there.

Edit: I've just noticed the purple Autobot symbol on the website and the backwards "scene change" music at the end of the QuickTime movie. Possibly evil Autobots?

Sorry, you're quite right. My knowledge of USA geography isn't great for obvious reasons and when I was writing this thread my mind just said "It began with a C!" so out came Cleveland. Original post has been edited.

Bit more news folks. It seems the name for this years BotCon will be "Shattered Glass" and it's featuring the previously mentioned idea of Herioc Decepticons and Evil Autobots. Whilst there are no pictures of the figures yet, the main set has been confirmed to consist of Optimus Prime, Jazz, Grimlock and Goldbug for the Autobots and Starscream with a Minicon called Razorclaw for the Decepticons. No doubt there'll be the usual 3 or 4 extra figures available by various other means throughout the convention.

First picture has appeared folks! Optimus Prime. He's completely average; the mold is good but we already know that through Classics Optimus Prime and Ultra Magnus. I think the colours are just... nothing though. Nothing to complain about, nothing to praise either.

I was actually somewhat surprised that it wasn't. (If it was I'd have blown up the image and PM'd it to you) But judging from the design of the site for this year's convention purple seems to be "the" colour. I think it'll take a lot to beat last year's set, which was, for me, both the best and the worst set. Best because it had some excellent figures in it. Worst because 3 of them were actual core figures from the Transformers line the most fans would have bought. I understand the logic of putting all 6 Classics Seekers on general retail probably wouldn't have been a good idea. But maybe stick them on the Transformers Club store.

My obsession with black repaints aside, they do at least deserve some credit for thinking up a new evil Optimus Prime colour scheme. Although it does seem rather lazy that he's essentially an Autobot in Decepticon-esque colours, plus it looks like the purple Autobot insignia we've seen countless times in the past is going to have an official use for once.
