The renders are good, but the actual movement poor- no sense of weight.
A mid point between this and the final movie designs would have been what I would have preferred.
Problem is, once you ditch the complexity of the LAM designs, they're nowhere near as interesting to watch transform.

All the idiots at TFW2005 are already bashing this :/ They're pretty insecure about the idea they keep stating as fact, that the movie could only have been done the exact way Michael Bay wanted it done.
Every casual I've shown this to found it awesome.

Casual? In any case, I'm shocked that other TF communities are supporting Bay. I thought everyone hated bay and wanted a movie like the one in this thread.
I thought the video was great. But I'm not saying this would have made a better theatrical movie.

Mmm. I agree, though I think a compromise between these and the movie models so theres not one extreme or the other might work.

Was fun to watch but IMO it wouldn't have worked for the movie, their movements didn't look quite right. Plus they just looked like two toys battling, which isn't a bad thing but probably would catch people in disbelief if this was on the Silver screen.

I liked how primed charged Megs down! bit bulky, yes, but he is a massive robot after all. Not film rife though.

I liked it. For its own sake.
Yes, I would prefer someone other than Bay directing. Bryan Singer, the first two X-Men, I think could do it right.

I also gotta agree with matrix on that one, first time i watched it i had to pick up my jaw when it converted from TF:TM to the CGI, but the fight was too short, they missed out megs trying to pull his eyes out, an prime launching him over his shoulder. If they wanted to cut hot rod out of it and have prime win, they could've had prime pick up the rifle as normal, walk over to megs who starts begging (to buy time to reach the pistol) megs goes for the gun, and prime double taps megs in the head, straight off the side of the city. Awesome video though, looked mega with all the bits of debris flying around when the bots are getting thrown into walls etc, no wieght behind them though, and what was going on with megs arm cannon?! How big!!
And yes, i would have much prefered a hour of this than 'what the hell is going on here' Bay designs. Sure it looks a bit cheaper than the LAM, but thats what the guys at ILM are paid for, make it realistic an make us all happy 24 going on 10 year olds...

i like the look of this a lot.
but as has been said there is just something that's missing. maybe with a bigger budget it might have looked more relistic, but hell why would hasbro want that.

That was nice, but was clearly just a step above the awful G2 CGI stuff from a while back.

To be honest, I think the overcomplicated Transformers will get old if they use them in the next movie. They're just too fake looking. Blackout blows your mind, but after that... I think properly engineered transformations with a sense of weight would work so much better.

in other words go back to the ultra unrealistic transformations of the g1 series - nearly everyone with any sense agrees it wouldnt work properly
