The 'welcome to thetf.net' board needs some attention, methinks. 3 topics that haven't been touched in weeks (my recent input excluded), people with 1 post saying hello then never returning. It doesn't really give much of a good impression to newbies, IMO. I reckon it'd be best to lay it to rest, at least until TF2 comes out and a new influx of people come in to say hello...

Yeah.  And why is there hate for a section some of you claim to hardly ever go to?

Sometimes, you get a run going on a welcome thread, can be enjoyable for all.  I have seen it happen, with mine and welcome threads that goes past a page.  Responding to them is not about the 'return' you get from 'all your effort' of posting on a welcome thread.  Even if the person starts and posts once in the Welcome Section, maybe that person feels like he or she is socially obliged when becoming a member to make an appearance.  Kinda like, "don't be surprised later if I post something, but there is a good chance I might not.  It's out there just so its not weird or anything if I have something to say."  Awkward, but that I imagine is going through the head of many a one time poster.

When I joined, there were about 10 to 12 other welcome threads with many board members participating.  I don't see what the problem is about saying hello and welcome to the newcomer.  Unless you're obsessive and have to answer every thread and posting in a thread where you may actually have to be nice instead of a smart ass is troubling to you.



Note:  Supercrap Threads?  Any takers?
