There are likely to be more toys with bonus DVDs now. Some Americans see this as the second coming, despite the fact that nothing has really changed. Hasbro always had a say on the distribution of the cartoon on DVD, as the cartoon has the "Transformers" brand on it.

The only thing I can see change is Metrodome losing the rights in the UK, as unlike Madman and Sony BMG, Metrodome never bought a license, but were given the rights from parent company TV Loonland.

Ugh, this won't end well for us.  They'll no doubt release "improved" editions of everything we've bought from Metrodome in recent years.

So long as they allow 'lil Chris to carry on doing commentaries, then I don't mind! Otherwise I'm happy with my current DVD's.

the only thing this could do for the cartoon would be a Blu Ray release, i don't think they would release again on DVD there is no point, they have 2 versions of the first season, and all the eps on single dvd's.

but it would need lots of work for HD and it wouldn't be worth it

Hasbro will no doubt take their usual approach with re-releases, though - they'll MAYBE create a new-look cover, include a new pack of postcards or something, then sit back and wait for us all to buy the cartoons yet again, even though we already have multiple copies of each episode!

Well, it ain't gonna be me!

Same here. I already have the Rhino, Maverick and Metrodome releases, plus all but season 1 as DivX. So why the heck would I ever buy the complete set yet again?

It'll take A LOT to convince me to buy another boxset:

An option to choose between English and Japanese audio.

All TV toy adverts from the era.

Commentary on every episode (by a certain irishman)

The proper animation as seen on TV.

Unreleased material (Deleted scenes, original character models etc)

PDF's of the Marvel comics

That's just for starters for my dream boxset, anyway!

Don't count on those Marvel comics. AFAIK, those are owned by either Marvel or Titan, so Hasbro would need to get their permission first. That sounds strange, seeing as they are comics about Hasbro property, but that's how it works.

Tell me about it, hence why the comics can use particular Names that Hasbro have trouble using (Shockwave, Hot Rod, Jazz, Bluestreak the list goes on).
