Hi Again,

I'm getting back into collecting TFs after taking a years' break.  I'm not starting completely from a blank page as I kept a few figures.  One thing that I'd like to do is collect a few of my favourite figures from the TFC range.  Are these figures completely rare MISB now?

Optimus Prime, Jazz, Skids, Starscream, Sideswipe, Insecticons and Hound

BTW I don't use Ebay -local forums are my friends!

If you want a MISB TFC #0 Convoy, be prepared to cough up a serious amount of cash for it.  He's the rarest of the bunch.

Archonia.com has Skids, Hound and Stepper in stock.

Prime, Sideswipe and Starscream will be VERY hard to find these days.

Just buy encores.

Prime, Megs, Soundwave, Screamer, Ironhide, Ratchet, Sky Lynx, Jazz, Mini-bots, Omega, Skywarp, Thundercracker and Metroplex all fresh reissues for decent prizes!

Thanks for the help so far guys - I really should test an order on Archonia.com.

As for the Encore re-issues, I am picking them up as I'm going along - so far I'm missing Megatron, Soundwave and Skylynx.  Do you think that they'll re-issue the TFC ones again?  I've already noticed that the Encore differ from the TFCs with the transfers painted on in some cases.

I will be selling Jazz and Sideswipe later this summer (as well as some other TFC), but both are only MIB.

Not until hell freezes over should answer your question.

Cheers Nemisis Scourge.  Looks like I'll be hunting for the TFC ones.

Bigbot; PM me about the TFCs you're considering selling I may be interested.

Well it depends. The TFC reissues themselves, no chance.

The figures on the other hand might be reissued once again. Some are just too popular to ignore - I wouldn't be surprised if Prowl and/or Hound would show up in the Encore line some day.

The thing is, are you willing to count on "might"? If I were you, I'd buy figures for decent prices if you find them, and go for Encore if available. Most of those are a lot cheaper these days.

Hi Chaps,

Thanks for the feedback.  This is how my collection looks so far:

TFC: Prowl, Megatron, Soundwave, Soundblaster, Blaster, Perceptor

Encore: Optimus, Starscream, Ratchet, Ironhide, Jazz

E-Hobby: Twincast, the blue cassettes

I know that I have a couple of duplicates from the TFC range but I did like the bookstyle look and subtle differences.

BTW if anyone has anything they consider selling just PM me and I'll consider it.

Cheers for the help!

Why has the TFC line stopped? I liked them!

Takara-Tomy wanted to release Convoy again, and as such started anew with the Encore range for that very purpose.

i think you will be better off with the encore range, considering there going to do omega supreme, skywarp and thundercracker

but i also like the tfc, i did have all 21 just needed blitzwing and optimus prime but sold them all lol

they are still available but ebay is going to be your best bet im afraid, but finding them misb is going to be hard and very costly, where as if you can get mib with unapplied stickers etc, it would be worth while going for them

im just sticking with the encore versions now, and g1 mib, though the encores will stay sealed misb as i should have the others in genuine g1 aswell to display lol

I know what it's like having a load of the figures and selling them - at one point I had them all bar Optimus, Astrotrain and Kup/Wheelie.  Still, the fun will be finding the figures I want all over again.

I've kept away from Ebay as I would probably go on a mad spending spree - not good for the wallet!  Also I've found that dealing with fans on forums to be good with no bad experiences so far.

Thanks for the PMs by the way.

As for the figures, I would prefer MISB but MIB with unapplied stickers is equally good.  Having done some hunting online the figures I want to get are either not listed or bloody expensive - how the heck did the minibot set become so popular?

I'd like to get the first season Gen 1 figures which is the main reason I've gone for TFC so far although I know there aren't legimate releases of Mirage, Wheeljack or Sunstreaker.

£60-£70 for an original Ironhide or Skids?  That seems pretty high.  I was lucky with my previous collection as I managed to snag a MISB Wheeljack and an original Sunstreaker for £70 each.

Would you consider the Classic releases from the early nineties?  Those figures were relatively cheap - that's how I snagged my Wheeljack a few years back.
