Hi Chaps,

I'm expanding my collection left, right and centre and would like to get a cartoon accurate Starscream.  I see that there are two versions, one done by Hasbro and the other done by TakaraTomy.

The question is, are there any differences between the two figures?  I can't make out any changes so thought to put it to you lot.

Cheers,

Don't think there's any real changes, though the Hasbro one has slightly thickened pointy bits on the tail fins.

I have the hasbro one and that's absolutley fine, I really like it. The only other difference I know of is that the Takara one has a decepticon badge infront of the cockpit like the original G1 toy.

I don't have any but I did hear that the Hasbro has the battle damage or burn marks

What is a decent price for it now? Around 50 odd pounds?

There's the general difference that the TakTom version is made of a better quality plastic. Aside from that the only difference is that the Hasbro version his black burn marks on parts of the jet mode whilst the TakTom version has a clean jet mode. Aside from that, even the packaging is the same.

Hi Chaps,

Thanks for letting me know - so the TakaraTomy version is cleaner and has the Decepticon logo on the nose cone?

I think I'm sold on the TakaraTomy version - I don't like the random spray painted effect too much.

What's a good price - £55?

I would say so, as it's only a few quid more than the Japanese retail price.

I rather like the weathering on Hasbro Screamer, it adds a bit of realism and is more subtle than the black splotches on Hasbro MP Prime.

And I've got two, both to display in jet and bot mode at once and to avoid the wing cracking problems. I just need a second Skywarp....

MP Skywarp is on my list too - he's the best looking of the jets.

I need a bigger bank balance

I saw a Hasbro (?) SS in a store a few weeks back, but neglected to pick it up.  Am wondering whether that was a daft decision, although my bank balance would undoubtedly tell me otherwise!

Went in the other day, and all the £100 MP Screamers had gone! Guess someone wanted them even at a 400% markup!

I'd say you're looking at almost £400.

You can get Skywarp off ebay for about £60 shipped from Hong Kong sellers like toyspark, and Megs is probably a bit over £60 from tfzone.co.uk with postage.

With Magnus and MP04 Prime though (assuming you want the official trailer), you're getting into the big leagues. Magnus will probably cost you about £100 (if you can find him), and MP04 at least that much, likely more. For MP04, you may want to look at BBTS (think they managed to get some in recently) or try to make friends with an Australian (apparently some are available in the Aussie TRUs).

If you do get anything from BBTS, it'll certainly cost more than that once customs get through with you.

I really want MP-02 Magnus but I've yet to find one at a decent price.  So far I've seen them on Ebay for £150-£170.  Someone also wanted a loose one for £110!

MP-04 looks like a pig to find at a decent price too and weight will be an issue for P&P.
