Unless you've made prior preparations beforehand, none of us will get a say in what happens to our collections.  Dead men get no chances to voice their opinion in death.

My  Family and friend know that My g1 ratchet ( an original purchase in 1984 has to be buried with me.  He has been by my side ever since i had him, Trips interviews, wedding night,   He is my good luck charm  lol.

Just thinking burying... your good luck charm with you sort of demystify it as being a good luck charm

Cool story deadwing.

I've got to find something that means as much to me as that. Otherwise it goes to the kids if they want to collect...... if not.. the wife has to eBay.

Will our collections die with us?

Inasmuch as we'll be, y'know, dead and all, then yeah, they probably will!  Unless, of course, we entrust said collections to someone else who can carry on adding to them!

No good, no matter how hard I try, I simply cannot take the name of that twinkle sword seriously.  It either makes me think of a nursery rhyme, or passed on family pets who bore it.

I will anticipate my death, box up all my Transformers and slap a pricetag on them so those bloody idiots of a grandchildren I have won't get totally ripped off at fleamarkets due to their failure to appreciate the value of this stuff.

Assuming I'll have grandchildren. Or children. Or a wife. Hell, I'll probably stay an eternal virg---er, bachelor.
