Hi there,

Me again.  I just wondered what the aim of your collections are?  The reason I ask is that I started with the aim of collecting the original BT series - since then I've branched into the original TFC series, the Masterpiece lot and a few older Takara re-issues.  Basically I can't ever stick to one line.  Do you lot have an aim because I'm lost!

I suppose I'm aiming for a complete Alt/BT/MP collection, minus the really naff releases like Ricochet and Rollbar. G1 doesn't really hold my attention toywise these days, I've got most of the good BW show figures, and there's only a few figures from the other lines that grab me.

And I'm pretty close. :)

I need to upgrade Wheeljack to a BT, reacquire BT Grimlock and Battle Ravage, find a second MP Skywarp, and get BTA Blaster and Hot Rod. I'm also torn about Alt Prime (weak mould, and a pointless purchase if you have MP Prime. Probably only worth getting as an Alt Ironhide substitute) and BT clear Mirage.

though i love old g1 stuff, i really only care to keep my prime and devastator, the bt's were great when they first came out but then i quit caring about those, i sold most my rid stuff, so classics and TFA are all i really want right about now....because they have the retro goodness with increased pose and play

My primary collection aim has always been to own loads of black repaints, and I like to think I'm remaining true to it even now.

I can't say much about the secondary aims, as they often get lost in the confusion of me focusing on the other toy lines I've bought into.

I've been pretty random with my collecting -and as much as I've wanted to stick to one series I've always found something shiny that distracts me.  Still, I might be able to finish off the original BTs by the end of the year and pick up a few more of the TFC releases.

Ahh, plastic crack - there's nothing better.

I enjoyed it for a long long time, being older than most on here, I was into it before the hype. I was sad to see em go, but all good things come to an end. And I like to think the ones that meant a lot to me went to good homes. I do miss em now and then, but I was never a whacko, i never actually talked to them, and so on. Sooner or a later they did talk to me subconsciously, they would say "were a pain in the butt to clean cost a fortune and stand around doing sweet F.A" so like any good mentalist I sold them, for a pretty penny I might add. Oh yes, they still talk to me, but I tend to ignore them nowadays, plus the tablets taste good my Psychologist gives for it.

Oh yes my aim, was to be happy and not skint

I started out with the aim of getting as many figures as possible, but as space became more of a premium that went down to getting Optimus Prime and Megatron from each series and now even that's had to slim down even further. I don't own any of the movie figures, although I would like the Premium versions of Optimus Prime and Megatron, and I don't think I'll be getting any Animated either which really sucks as some of the figures are looking very nice indeed. As for what I do collect, it's down to Classics and Masterpieces right now, barring daft repaints like the up-and-coming Classics Acid Storm and Classics Legends. I'm looking to acquire Takara-Tomy's anime Masterpiece Starscream and Masterpiece Ultra Magnus when I have the money (Ultra Magnus is very far down the list). I also get a token figure from any series I pick up from Nemmy's rantings - so far being Masterpiece Great Exkaiser and CM's Genesic GaiGaiGar reissue. The Revoltech Gurren Lagann figures are currently calling me...

Classics, the ones I like which is most of them.  Other than that whatever strikes me to buy, I'll get.

I'm basically done collecting G1, except the occasional reissue or original I happen to find for a good price. That leaves Classics and Animated, and probably the movie toys next year.

All in all, I just buy what I like. That's not limited to any single series, nor does it exclude series.

Of course you were joking.

And I know that you don't take psychoactive drugs because you said psychologist instead of psychiatrist.   ha ha

I'd be interested in knowing if anyone else here has been swayed from the TF path because of me and my obscure Japanese knowledge.

I snapped up Ravage's Masterpiece Great Exkaiser when I got the chance - it's the best looking non-TF related robot I could find.  Then again that GGG looks great but I couldn't afford it...

I like the look of the characters, so appearance and posability is what's most important to me. This means that my G1 collection comprises all of one. Old toys with all the posability of bricks that don't look anything like the animation models don't really interest me. Except for Soundwave. He's awesome. But I still chafed at having to pay £40 for a reissue. It's hardly worth more than a tenner, if that when you concider the inherantly inferior design and construction specs of a toy first designed in the 70s when compared to modern figures. But there you go.

Beast Wars looked wierd while the Cybarmenergon figures just looked too much like Power Rangers Zords.

So my collection aim is mostly limited to Classics (all the look of the G1 cartoon but you actually get stuff like elbows and a transformation that doesn't require you to detach half the parts first) Movie, Masterpiece and Animated. Also mostly Decepticons because jet planes and tanks are a lot more interesting than cars. The only Autobot I actually like is Optimus, because he's a truck, and trucks are badass. Just look at Duel. THATS an evil looking truck.

I thought the kitty only owned King Exkaiser, I didn't know he had Dragon Kaiser too.
