This will probably get my arse kicked for even responding, but someone's got to defend young mr blaster. Especially from a tirade of bad language and mostly unsubstantiated abuse. Keep the language clean, for starters WJ2, there's no need for it, especially in a family forum.
Secondly, this whole argument stems from more than just a few people getting irate about a certain member's deliberately attention seeking and confusing posts, which, even if everyone understands her condition, still provoke some reaction, and due to the frankly bizarre nature of her posts, these replies usually come across as mocking or patronizing. Now, the general consensus from high above is 'ignore her and she'll go away', but this just isn't the case. And as things have been getting gradually worse and worse, both on the bizarre-ness camp and reactions to said bizarre-ness, someone was bound to cause enough of a stink to get someone cross.
I know some of you people need a scapegoat for all these troubles, and blaster is a pretty easy target, what with him being here most of the time, having that german copper attitude and slightly chewy sense of humour, but there are plenty of other people who could just as easily been accused of being bullies here. However, i think with all this banning and shouting, it'd just be easier on everyone to remove the catalyst for all this nonsense, and cut the wonky leg off the horse to save the other three. Otherwise this is just going to happen again and again and in the end there'll be noone left on the forum. |

No arse will be kicked.
Blaster's only substantive argument was that I called him a prick.
There is never a good reason for name calling and I apologize for
that. Also, I am sorry for the language I used. I was angry at his
behaviour but that was no reason not to edit offensive language out of
the response.
I'll just say this: if someone is distressed and angry and seemingly not understanding what's going on, you reassure them that you yourself are not angry with her and tell the person that things are ok and there is nothing to be mad about. Reassurance not confrontation and advice that comes with the caveats, "Your behaviour is effing ridiculous," and "you would fit in here better... "
I would like to add that you and Blaster are the ones who provoke her reactions the most. But you have always acted reasonably even after seemingly losing your sense of decorum.
Oh, I have no idea who are you talking about when you say that many other people can be called bullies here. You? No. Sixshot? No. SLL? No. Nemesis Scourge? Someone might think that but he's gruff not a bully. A bully is someone who picks on someone who is perceivably weaker than them. Me? Only if by going after a bully is considered bullying. And maybe when I attack someone's misinformed ideas. The last one I am perfectly willing to debate with people. Ask Josh Lowe. We've butted heads a few times with my only once being able to claim victory because of a technicality. Tell me, in private, if you like, who else you think is a bully here?
I'm going to leave it at that. I mostly wanted to apologize to Blaster for the name calling. That was uncalled for and immature on my part. I can make my points without resorting to swearing.

I think you've overreacted with the use of the term bullying. But you've made it quite clear in your earlier tirade that you're not up for a civil two-sided argument, so i won't bother.

Lets put an end to this now. The situation has been dealt with.
Fudge - I've had words with WJ about the way he spoke to Blaster and he's apologised for that.
WJ - While I may not agree with his arguments, I have no problem with Fudge sticking up for Blaster if he feels that's the right thing to do, Blaster isn't able to do so himself at the moment so it's exactly the same as us sticking up for Heather.
But all this needs to remain civil. We were all friends here before this happened.
Theres no sense arguing about these things though, what's done is done. Theres no need to argue amongst yourselves about it. WJ's not to blame for Blasters punishment and Fudge isn't to blame for how Blaster feels about it.

For the record, I am fairly certain that Blaster and I get along about 99.5% of the time. I am being actually unfair in the percentages if you think of it like this: this would mean that I am being critical or combative with Blaster once out of every 200 posts he makes. Which is not the case. Look in past threads, we've been getting along fine and I find him a likable enough fellow. We have had many good back and forth exchanges and I look forward to getting along with him again when he comes back. I'm not going to be holding any resentment or anger about him and I don't feel that way right now. At all.

i don't want to cause trouble here but i do think this has taken it's toll on everyone.
i also think it does take the piss that someone has been banned because of it (but looking at what has been said it's not the first warning so that is fair enough)
what can you do other that stop posting in the same threads? that is hard when it's an open forum and shouldn't be needed.
i do have to partly side with blaster on this. he and fudge have to say hello and they both get an ear full.
it's a shame that people on this forum now feel worried about getting banned or a slap down via IM or public over 1 member.
i don't wanna stir, just add in my 2 pence.

Again, he's not been banned, just temporarily suspended. And unlike Freefalls "temporary ban" Blaster WILL be coming back.
Noone need worry about being banned or having any action taken against them so long as they follow the rules of the forum and that they take heed of any warnings given by moderators not to act in a certain manner.
I don't want people to be afraid to speak up, noones going to be punished for having an opinion. In fact, I for one would welcome any feedback people give, it may not make a difference to the actions taken here but it might make a difference as to how we deal with issues in the future, if they don't want to do it publically, then my PM inbox is always open.
On a side note, personally, I don't think Blasters a bad person, nor do I feel that he deliberatley sets out to hurt anyone, just that people (not just Blaster) need to think more before they post something that can be taken in a negative way.
I also fully appreicate what people say when they comment about other people provoking the reactions we've seen, but as I've said before it's not hard to ignore it and take the higher ground.
