It looks a lot like her Transmetal II toy, only more streamlined.

the robot mode looks good but hate the spider mode

More like a streamlined version of the BM Blackarachnia.

And the spider mode isn't great (probably the BM one is the best of the lot) but it is at least able to stand up rather than collapse.

Aren't you supposed to put the back bit of her legs back, to give her more of a 'high heels' look? Or is that just me reading the instructions wrong again?

I read that too, but it usually just hinders the way she stands for me.

I like her, but her hands are a little too visible in spider mode for my liking. I also wish she had wrist articulation. (I painted her mouth black like the show aswell to make it stand out more).
