hi

sorry for starting new thread-not sure where to put this question. I have seen on ebay someone selling a black zarak(black scorponok) MISB with a price of about £1200 saying its very rare. As someone fairly new to this is black zarak rare? does it come up often on ebay and what is it actually worth? I know a lot of the buy it now prices are very overpriced so was wondering if this was.

thanks chris

but check on its condition. if i remember right, the gold plastic is fragile and is often cracked or missing.

If it's MISB you can't very well check the condition, can you?

They cost a few hundred boxed/complete, so £1200 MISB doesn't sound outrageous in proportion to that.

thanks for the replies. It is tempting because black zarak looks really great and would look good alongside the normal scorponok.but it is a lot of money so am undecided at moment. How often does it come up on ebay? im assuming as it was only released in far east not many people have it?

on a different note -was there ever a figure for arcee? It seems stange for such a main character to not have a figure but i have never seen one.

They come up.. well.. not frequently, but, if you want one it's never too hard to find one. Rare but consistently available if you've got the money.

Frankly I wouldn't spend an extra £800+ just because it's sealed. It's not like you can appreciate the figure when it's stuck inside the box.

There's never been an official G1 Arcee released at retail, but there was a 6" Titanium made in 2006/7 which made it to the test-shot stage before the line was cancelled. There have been a few fan-made customs of varying quality, along with an Energon Arcee figure in 2004 and a Movie Arcee figure in 2007.

Black Zarak is a black repaint of G1 Scorponok and a Japanese release. He's rare and expensive nowadays.

To answer your question,no G1 toy,a 6" transforming toy which was cancelled,a Binaltech which is a redeco of Decepticharge,a Energon Arcee toy and the Movie deluxe Arcee. She appeared in Animated, but currently there's no news about an Animated Arcee toy.

I'd be totally happy with a BlackZarak with missing accessories if I could replace them with Scorponok ones and just paint those with gold.

Or kitbash a Scorponok. I don't think I could justify the spend on Black Zarak knowing how fragile it is. The minute it breaks you've lost money on it - prsuming you'd want to take it out of the box. And thats another thing, if its MISB, how would you check there's no internal damage? X-Ray?

Well kitbashing Scorponok into a BlackZarak requires a little too much effort (since he has accessories Scorponok didn't have at all, namely the head and the spear), plus if I had to buy a whole Scorponok...well, I'd gleefully keep him as a Scorponok.

I do prefer characters with a little more coverage, after all. :P

There's nowt wrong with a bit of Scorpy. I have two! Do wish the designers had thought a little more about Scorponok's head though. Its rubbish having that piddly little Zarak on there - helmet or not!

Yes, I recall there were plans to make Scorponok the same size as Fortress Maximus, but they didn't feel like putting same kind of effort to a bad guy.

At least the Headmasters anime showed a toy-accurate Scorponok as opposed to the season 4 and comics, which was a pretty unusual move.
