Finally, some decent info about this instead of an illegible scan, so I thought I'd create a proper topic.

Game info here, and an interview with megaman's creator here.

This is a wii-ware only 8-bit stylised game, with Inafune taking more of an active role then he has in many years.

Of all the games announced for this gen, I'm looking forward to this the most.

To be perfectly honest, I preferred the 16-bit/Megaman X series of games. The original Mega Man ones were just too hard for my liking. However, the concept of this makes me very happy indeed - using formats' "mingame" outlets (WiiWare, Xbox Live Arcade, etc) to create new old games is brilliant stuff.

Megaman 2 and X are my personal faves. True there were some rock hard bits in 2, (The horizontal scrolling giant laser bars in quickman's level anyone???), but I have completed the game. Really looking forward to this, the Megaman series has always been fun and addictive.

Indeed. I always drift between 3 & 4, 3 was a bit more fun, with interesting bosses like Gemini man, but 4 was far harder, and had Pharoh man and his chargable special.  And mega man actually relied on your skill, there was no blaming camera angles or controls, pixel perfect accurate jumping meant if you lost, you had only yourself to blame.

Good times.

First trailers up.  Music is as spookily catchy as ever, putting most game music compsers these days to shame.

^^

Did you ever play X3?  Best in the X series for me, the customisations were great(Double Jump, Shield, etc), and the bosses I think were the hardest in the X series, and had great designs.

Indeed, he was definitely a 4 sub-tank job.

Japan cost of Mega Man 9 has been released - 1000 wii points, or around 7 pounds.  Very cheap, *if* it's also 1000 wii points here.

Heh, Capcom's PR department never cease to amaze me.  First they said it was wiiware only.  Then reports came out saying it was multiplatform, only to be quashed by capcom saying this was untrue and that it was wiiware only, then yesterday they announced it was multiplatform.  A classic case of the left hand not knowing that the right hand has performed a full-frontal lobotomy on the brain.

Capcom are pillocks. They always seem to make a mess of announcing the platforms their games are on. They did the same with Devil May Cry 4.

I might get this from the PSN, just depends on the price.

I'll probably get the WiiWare version as a sideways Wii remote is the closest thing to a NES controller of the 3.

This is quite good.  Capcom have released 80's style boxart for Megaman 9.  Heh, it certainly captures how american boxart looked at the time.

I love how the box art in the second link says 'High resolution graphics'. Oh how much things have came on since then in terms of technology.

No western date yet, but it's coming out in Japan in September. And he doesn't jump like an idiot - he's Mega Man. Your jumping is just inferior and doesn't look special enough.
