Back again for another Auto Assembly update but this one is a biggie! With only 10 days to go until what is shaping up to be the
biggest ever Transformers convention in Europe, you'd think we'd finished with the major announcements but oh no! Read on and find out more...

Hasbro Makes Their Auto Assembly Debut!

Well, it's been seven years in the making but we are pleased to announce that - for the first time ever - there will be a rather special display from Hasbro at Auto Assembly 2008... We're not saying what it is yet, you'll just have to come along for yourself and find out but we think you'll be pretty impressed!

Auto Assembly Guest Number 11!

Yes, you read it right, we have just confirmed our ELEVENTH guest!! We are now going to be joined by artist Martin Griffiths. Martin worked in a limited capacity on the original Marvel G1 comic, illustrating one of the Christmas stories and providing cover art for some of the comics, before moving on to illustrate the UK G2 comic. This will be Martin's first appearance at Auto Assembly so we hope you'll make him feel welcome.

Do we have any more surprises up our sleeves...? Only time will tell!! See you all on 2nd August!

This isn't a very late April fools joke is it?

Good news and good work. I wonder what they are showing?

This is great. It's nice to see Hasbro UK actually taking some notice and wanting to come out and engage the fans a little. I'm hping there won't be any people there who think they can be clever by asking awkward questions - this is a chance to finally find out about the UK Transformers market and, to put it bluntly, why it seems to suck so often.

an interesting question might be if they plan to release any exclusives to us in the future (in the same vein as the turbomasters and predators in the early 90s)

That was a disappointing hasbro stall, some nice-ish animated stuff - oil slick looks cool, looking forward to him on the tv show, and the springer-ratbat set looks nice, but they had nothing on sale and didn't seem to be putting too much of an effort in.

No. It seemed the Hasbro stand was just a Hasbro employee, his brother and some toys they own though working for the company. As far as I'm aware they didn't have a Q&A panel or anyting like that. Unless it happened whilst we were out for lunch.

The other guy told my friend that he 'used' to work for Hasbro.

I did get some information out of them though, they said that wave 3 (Grimlock ect) will be out before Christmas.

The guy in question is 'Bluesteak' from the TF@TM Board. The story goes he works in IT, wrote a jokey letter to Hasbro UK & ended it by saying 'oh, BTW, do you have any IT work placesments?' Next thing he knows is he's having an interview & a being offered a one year work placement. That has now finished but he still has contact & is a connection between the fans & the Has.

That's my take on what he told me. Nice chap.

Hi all,

Thanks iprimus for clearing up the rumours.

Let me just explain exactly who we are and how the Hasbro display at AA came around.

My brother and I are long time Transformers fans ourselves and have been on tf&themoon for many years. I myself have been collecting transformers for 21 years and my brother ever since he was old enough!

We attended AA03 and Transforce04 purely as fans, even though I did try to get Toys R Us (my employer at the time) to come to Transforce themselves.

Neither of us actually work for Hasbro. I worked for Hasbro for a total of 2 years as iprimus stated in the IT department by the end of which I was known around the building as the Transformers guy. Since then I have held the position of Transformers Fan Liaison Consultant in an unpaid and unofficial role, whereby I try my best to benifit the fans and Hasbro to try and bring the two closer together.

The main focus of the event for Hasbro was to display the competition prizes and talk about the competition and thats all. With regards to some of the rumours, yes we did know the resin samples were for the competition, thats why we were handing our leaflets and encouraging people to enter...

I asked Hasbro to provide us with more product that was not available in the UK to display to make it more interesting for you guys.

The Transformers brand manager did as the moon said want to come and I believe she will surely try to next year.

As for the event, we had a great time even though we didnt earn anything from it.

I thoroughly believe that this is one more step in the right direction as fort max has said, hopefully it will get the ball rolling.

As such I open the floor to all of you to provide me with feedback about you liked and didnt like from our display this year AND what you would like to see from Hasbro next year.

All constructive feedback will be fed back to the right people.

I hope I have answered all your questions, but if you have anymore or wish to email comments / suggestions / feedback, please feel free to email me on :

bluestreak56@blueyonder.co.uk

Cheers

With regards to the stuff for sale - nothing on the display was for sale. However half the display was our own product we had brought in - Grimlock and Snarl were ours which we purchased in Florida a little over a month ago. We could have sold them but wanted to keep the display alive till the end of the show.

We didnt even have Grimlock with us, but it was more of a if you really want it badly maybe we can see what we can do..
