Righto guys and girls, its been too long since we had a southern meet up, so i think we should get one planned. Spec's has told me that its Collectormania on the 25-28th September, so i thought that we could plan it around then, and attend Collectormania on one of the days, and all go out and have a laugh, buy some toys, and cause some chaos.

So, what we need to know, is who is up for this. Put your names down and any ideas, and lets get this planned.

Ah, yeh Spec did mention Collectormania initally but trains for me to Milton Keynes are ridiculous, also, it's the same time as my anniversary which I'm going away for.

He then said something about a London meet, but guess that's not the plan.

- here's what I can look forward to for travel to Milton Keynes according to National Rail enquiries, if I want to get there for a reasonable time, say, 10 am,  I need to get a train from Bournemouth Station at 6:25, travel to Waterloo, get the underground from Waterloo to Euston station, then get a train from Euston to Milton Keynes, it will take me nearly four hours (including waiting for changes) and will cost me close to £70 for a return ticket. Whereas if we do London, I can get to Waterloo in less than two hours and for £35 return.

Though either way, last week of Sept isn't a time I can do. Would need to be toward the end of October at the earliest.

don't change things on account of me though, do yer collectormania meet, we can always do a London (or other southern locale-meet) another time, maybe in the new year, once Xmas is outta the way)

The Collectormania thing was just an idea, a convention that isnt TF based. We can meet somewhere else and do other things, tis a shame you cant make it down until October.

See what marriage does to your social life! Im guessing the kitchen ball and chain was one of the wedding presents taken back for a refund.

Not just the timing, but the funds too! What with renovating our house too, I'm uber-skint lately - which is why for me, a new year meet might be better so I don't have to worry about Xmas expenses, but I don't want people to re-arrange anything for me.

If you want to do a september/  october meet do it, I'll come to another if I can't do that one.

Also, with collectormania, I'm not big on a conventions either really, so I'd be reluctant to spend all that cash and all that time getting somewhere when I'm don't particulary enjoy them.

After looking at trains/times etc I think I'm in the same boat as SLL. Too long and too expensive to warrant the trip. Can do London any weekend, but not in the near future as I'm broke at the minute.

Just to add my thoughts, I'm defintely up for a meet but like others, Collectormania is a bit of a no-go for me, mainly due to trains. I can get to London fine - direct train and I can get to the Midlands/north OK on a cross-country service. But anywhere just north of London is really expensive to get to as I have to get through London. I'd be happy with just meeting in London, checking the usual shops and then finding a pub or something to while away the day in.

Ok, Collectormania is a bad choice for most people, so lets just have a meet in London which everyone can get to, and have a day out. Lets get some dates in September which are good for people, and work around that.

Does it have to be September? We should really try and get SLL out to a real city.

True, so when do you propose?

I'm away on the last week of October, the first week of November and the weekend of the 22nd-23rd of November but aside from that I'm free any weekend in those months.

Don't work around me! Like I said, New year would be easiest for me - which is a long way off.

I have a GREAT idea.

Seeing as the old man is making poor excuses not to come and see us for the meet, i say we bring the meet to him, dinner round Lagerlots!

What say you!
