Does anyone know if Transformers (G1) Seasons 1-4 will ever be re-released onto DVD
again, anytime soon?

Its all available as metrodome box sets. You might even be able to find the Tin box which came with season one.

He's from USA, didn't Sony say they were going to release or did it get canned?
Import and region free dvd player is your best solution, I guess.
The UK's Metrodome is probably the best choice since it's still around.

"Import and region free dvd player is your best solution, I guess."
We R1'ers would also need a PAL television, right?
Instead of all that hassle, I've been thinking about that Chinese set
myself. I'd much rather get R1 sets, but Sony never did follow through
and release them, and I'm not buying Rhino's outrageously
overpriced, out-of-print sets (featuring extra animation errors
and tacked on sound effects, supposedly.)

I still have the Rhino sets I might be willing to sell, but it won't be cheap - especially shipping.

Is NTSC really that annoying? I have no problem watching NTSC stuff.
E. I believe there was a DVD guide for the Americans on Seibertron sometime ago, covering on how to watch imported stuff.

When I replied to his post on the other forum, I already mentioned the fact that Hasbro now have all the G1 TV / DVD rights so if anything were to be re-released it'll probably under some marketing ploy like the next movie release, the anniversary or Toy tie-ins. (Or the DVD rights get sold / loaned to another company, but it'll probably follow the same route).

if you have a newish TV, i think it's anything under about 5 years old, they should play PAL encoded streams without a problem. the older TV's turn the picture black and white or just don't play it.

This guy is wierd: On here, TFArchive, The Allspark (And I think Seibertron as well, although I haven't checked) he put out the same question (Worded exactly the same way with the same username) and then *poof* he's gone. I smell something rather fishy.

It's probably a market researcher seeing if people jump up and down demanding a re-release in response to his question.

Not really. As opposed to just about every modern PAL television having some sort of NTSC support, the opposite is rarely the case. In other words, even modern American TVs rarely support PAL signal.
Watching DVDs on your PC is your best bet.
