I wonder how Victory would have turned out if they gave the Cybertrons the same kind of overbearing heroism that GaoGaiGar and Gurren Lagann had.  Star Saber could've been an awesome character if he weren't so damn boring.

The Victory autobots suffered from being all from the same cookie cutter mold. As opposed to the decepticons which had fairly distinct personalities (namely Goryu, Kakuryu, Leozack and Hellbat and perhaps Gaihawk to some extent). Although some criticize Deszaras for sitting on his throne and leading the battle from behind the front lines, it did help him to deliver a message that things are gonna get serious when he finally DOES show up in person on the battlefield.

Yes he did. But the Predacons main focus was not hunting him down at every opportunity. You knew it would probably all come to a head at some point, but it didn't drive dinobot's storyline - or that of the Preds, or indeed the series- and reached a natural and powerful end.
