Is it in bad taste that the autobots spend half their story freeing the people of Georgia from an oppressive regime? That said, the story in the uk tf comic has gotten a lot darker recently, and has improved considerably. Do any of you guys still read it?

Yeah, I'm a subscriber! I do like the UK comic - the letters page is ace! Perhaps we should write in with pictures of our collections! I'm sorely tempted
I like the direction the UK comic has taken since it shifted into this downbeat alternative timeline. The analogies with recent East/West conflicts are crude, but effective in bringing those themes and issues to a younger audience which is to be applauded.
I do wish they'd give it up with the free stuff on the cover. Every bloomin' UK comic has this cack on the front - is that really what it takes to shift comics these days?

Probably no worse than when Marvels heroes and villains rescued people from the rubble of the twin towers at 9/11....

Yeah, a nod and a wink from Mr Furman to see if any otf the older fanbase are paying attention
Which brings me round to asking something of my own - I've noticed a few barbed comments directed towards Mr Furman. Has he fallen from favour?
For my own two penn'th, I think he's not well suited to the more modern incarnations. His work on Armada and Energon was pretty much phoned in, and I've found it hard to enjoy the movie-verse stuff. At least until editorial allowed him to create and alternate timeline.
His non-transformers stuff has been a bit flat as well. That weird space thing from Dreamwave fell prey to waffly technobabble, as did Death's Head 3.0 which had some unfortunately dull characters.
I think he's still turning in fine work on '-ation' series as a whole, but etheir I've missed something or the Dead Universe stuff isn't making much sense to me. I'm sure it will in the fullness of time. I think the problem I have is with IDWs erratic distribution. I seem to have to wait ages for Spotlights that tie into various 'ation' plots and vice versa.
oh. And it was Theodore F. Allen. The Fallen. Geddit?!!!

Get yourself the little titan digests, They're lovely.
As for furman, he's basically been spreading himself too thin of late, Devastation was rushed and poorly paced, BeastWars the Ascending suffered from being too short, cluttered and crammed too full of forgettable characters. Now his workload seems to have reduced, what with reign of starscream and all hail megatron getting newbies in for the writing, his work seems to have improved, the wheelie spotlight and revelations spotlights being prime examples of his return to form.
Although to be honest, i just think this animosity towards him is just a backlash to everyone else tf related crawling up his arse in worship.

Yeah, I agree with that. Poor guy is the immediate go-to for TFs. I'm glad they've got new writers onboard. Brings a new dynamic to proceedings.
I would quite like to see Bob Budiansky write Tfs again. He was another who proved he come up with the goods but was just working under ridiculous conditions.

Bob bloody Budansky is out of favour following his disastrously badly written animated movie anniversary adaptation remake from last year.

ooh was it really that bad? i didn't bother with it myself. i'm not fussed for movie adaptions. the only one i've seen that was any good was Army Of Darkness in the early '90s. The LAM adaption also sucked big pants, although that wasn't Budiansky related.
