I saw a few Animated toys this weekend, for the first time (I don't keep up with the news like what I used to).

Bumblebee aside, I thought they were ugly as sin. Ratchet's the second best of a bad lot, but the Prime, Prowl, Blacharachnia, Lockdown...I'm so unfussy I like G1 Broadside and have all the G2 Powermasters (complete!), yet even I couldn't muster enthusiasm for the aesthetics of the Animated army.

On the one hand, this is great as it means I won't be jizzing more cash up the wall on toys. On the other, it's a bit disconcerting to be left so cold by the latest iteration of my favourite toyline.

You lot like them?

For me the cartoon helped prepare me for them but i can easily see how they can shock and disgust people compared to previous lines

I like some. I bought Bumblebee, Prowl, Blackarachnia and Soundwave (the latter purely for the robot mode), and Blitzwing and Ultra Magnus have been ordered. For the rest there isn't a single one I really must have. For me too this is, overall and from an aesthetic view, one of the worst lines in a long time.

So far, I love them. The only ones that have dissapointed me so far are the Op / Megs doublepack (They're so wobbly!).

I like 'em. I was extremely unsure about them at first glance but I thought I'd give one a go and plumped for Lockdown. I really like how they do look and feel like their animated counterparts. I was expecting the same sort of uproar as when Beast Wars came out, but reaction seems largely positive.

In the same way Animated has left you cold, so have Armada and Cybertron left me wondering whats so great about them. Energon i didn't particularly care for, but the Decepticon figures from that line are excellent. well, expect for shockblast whose gun arm is rubbish.

Problem being with TF having a new set of figures/circumstances every year is that whilst it can maintain interest in the brand it can also have the opposite effect of putting people off. I also find it hard to develop any real 'love' for the newer stuff as it has the shelf life of milk. It'd be nice to have a range that sticks around for 3 years or so, like BW.

animated line has been all i care about, i haven't even got the new universe classics i just want to complete the animated line as my collection gallery shows, i like how they took the animated style and made figures out of it, even if they aren't acurate like bumbles, but all in all i enjoy everything about animated

I wasn't too keen on Animated when I first saw it.  But after picking up a few of the toys, I do think for the most part that they're pretty nifty.

I've got the Prime and Soundwave figures, and am fairly happy with them.  I might pick up one or two others, such as (perhaps) Leader Bulkhead, but I'm not going crazy on the line.  I'll be sticking primarily to Classics.

I like the Animated toys, not as classic or anything as the old toys but I think they're good for what they are. I think that only one of the three (I think) Megatron's that are out look good, I can't remember exactly which one it is though ...

I suppose the figures look as good as can reasonably be expected, given the exaggerated proportions of the TFs in the cartoon.

I got Blackarachnia and the two pack and was quite impressed but then i got the classics deluxe wave one before getting prowl and bumblebee (of whom was broken out of package) and I am underwhelmed.

I'll probably capitulate eventually and end up buying more Animated toys than I actually want.  Seems to be a running habit of mine...

Must... exert... more control... over finances...

I have the same thing.

I planned on getting only the very very best. So far, I already have 5 of them, I even picked up Bulkhead this week.

They are far from lazily designed. It's just a new style that cartoon creators have introduced, and most people seem to like it.

I applaud Hasbro for keeping that style in their toys. Maybe they could have looked better with a look like the Classics, but at least they are show accurate. That's more than G1 (especially season 1) ever had.

I absolutely love them, easily my favourite TF line since G1 and surpassing it in many ways, particularly articulation... I've bought Lockdown, Prowl, Soundwave, Oil Slick and Voyager Bulkhead, with Grimlock on order (more money invested in this line since G1, too) and I think they're all utterly brilliant, especially Lockdown and Oil Slick. I think it's the simplified nature of them which appeals to me, after years of more and more intricate designs.

i actually really like them and they have gotten me back into transformers for the first time in a while.  i have picked up quite a few the last couple of days...soundwave, grimlock, slag/snarl, leader megatron, blitzwing, starscream, and prowl.  grimlock is prolly my favorite.  he has great playability and is a very durable toy...which is perfect since my 3 and 6 year old like them.
