It is $40 if you're an American.  We foreigners have to pay $89 per year for that s**tty club.

Cheers Nemmy! It is indeed $89 for foreigners. Corrected.

Not at that price, no.  If I want their exclusives I'd rather get them from eBay.

I'm sticking with it till after i've got the last part of the combiner. They'll have to come up with something good to keep me after that.

Honestly, i dont get these 'club exclusives'. Why would anyone want to buy a repaint of a poor mold, and pay silly amounts of money?

If the club exclusives were NEW molds then i would understand.

Arent TF fans special enough without having to belong to a special people's club?

I thought I'd give it a whirl. Just for a year, see how it goes.

And how are you finding it?

My gripe is, the secret updates/info they give you is easily found. Like when they had Classics Onslaught on the cover, with pics of Sunstreaker etc inside, i found the pictures the next few days....wonder how much money that saved me?

You could apply that to any of the BotCon repaints as well. These things are well expensive on release and then devalue within a couple of years! They do seem to be moving in the right direction with the exclusives, but to be fair, its no worse than E-Hobby offering repaints of figures you already own.

It shows a bit of recognition of the burgeoning fanbase to set up a Collectors Club, which is positive to see. My only niggle is that it is US centric and there's no European equivalent which would (in theory) keep membership costs down.

I guess if we want improvements in the Club, we can only suggest it to the organisers.

In a word - desirability.  It's the curse of all devoted fans, myself included.

No, because we're fickle enough to require the need for our status as a fan to be proved in the eyes of others.

Thats nonsense i tell you! Lol. I can see those types of people...like some sort of 'cult', secretly meeting on the 5th full moon of the last leap year, with secret handshakes and cardboard  box roleplay cotumes.

Y'see, the Games of Deception bx set is the only set i would buy, as we get 3 new molds, and the first official TC and Dirge toy. Plus it has Thrust, my favourite seeker.

Bit early for me to tell. I don't spend a lot of time tracking stuff down on the web, so its good for me to have a more traditional way of gaining information. Fair point about release of info, but everything is like that these days - look at the lengths Doctor Who's production team go to to avoid leaks and spoilers!

I kind of like the idea of a magazine - reminds of my time as a Lego Club member as a kid

I was never a member, of anything i dont think.....

Anyways, i appreciate the effort that goes into club mags etc, although when you know that you can find out the same info after a few days is what makes me wonder why people pay money just to be ahead of the game.

To me, a Club that offers exclusive toys, would be a club that offers toys that no-one else can get. Unfortunately though, even though this exists now, people still find a way of getting hold of these exclusive toys.

I wouldn't bless it when exclusives have a nasty habit of going for roughly three times their original value on there.

Well exactly. I'd prefer to pay a fair price for an exclusive, and not some stratospheric auction price for the product.

I've pre-ordered the new Seacon set. looks pretty good, even if the colours are er, interesting!

Yes, I find it ridiculous in price. I'm still wondering what will become the free figure in 2010. Hopefully it's really good, maybe a new mold (sick of the repaints!) and then maybe I'd join but at the moment, no. It is possible to get lucky and get them cheaper some places like eBay and I know a guy who imports TFs (and can get me lots, quite cheaply too) and he may even be able to get them for a reasonable price compared to what we get from the TFCC.

Then again, BBTS has preorders at $20 or so US more than the TFCC's non-member price. Why pay them when you can pay on TFCC and also get a club membership? Stupid... Anyway, Seacons look nice enough (are they just reissues of the originals? I wasn't sure) and something good but the rest is pretty poor and Nightbeat? Who cares! I believe he does come with a comic though... eBay time! Honestly though, I don't want to shell out for a new paint job and head mold of a figure I've already got just to say it's a club exclusive.

I get why people think it makes them special but it really isn't THAT great. I only want the Seacons but I'll wait a bit and I'm sure I can get them at a good price sometime (not to mention that TFCC has obsurd shipping prices).

The Seacon set isn't a straight reissue. They were originally made in these colours. And, if you're being picky, the original G1 gift set didn't include Nautilator. I think the molds are all the same though - I don't think Hasbro have had to make any daft changes for safety reasons.
