Yes, I find it ridiculous in price. I'm still wondering what will become the free figure in 2010. Hopefully it's really good, maybe a new mold (sick of the repaints!) and then maybe I'd join but at the moment, no.

The chances of releasing an exclusive based on a new mould are practically zero. The costs of designing and creating the moulds are just too high.

There has been only one exclusive mould ever - the Chevy Aveo, and that was also a way of Hasbro to say thanks for the movie vehicle licenses.

Yea, I agree. Sucks though. Hopefully more good reissues/repaints like the Seacons will come out though.

Just thought I'd post this pic: David Willis has slightly kitbashed his Nightbeat to give him "ears" and I think it makes the figure look much better. If it wasn't so expensive I'd get that straight away:

The ears are an improvement, but it doesn't change the realisation that mould is flawed from its gimmick.

Just thought I'd post some pictures of the Seacons for you so you can see them in all their glory. Despite the general consensus being that these are revolting colours, i actually kind of like them. Should have used gold paint on Snaptrap though...

I've not bothered with the 'targetmaster' configurations as i dare say they still scrape the paint off the smaller figures faces.

It still looks s**tty when compared to God Neptune.  Now that was a fine repaint.

Just bought the Seacons on eBay - the guy was selling them for the American non-member price (no international markup) AND with cheaper shipping than the club, so I said to myself, I said, "self, you get yourself those." I never thought I'd see them for less than three figures, sterling. Really looking forward to getting them.... looking at those pics above, I *really* like Snap Trap's colors in particular.

Having seen more detailed photos, I do like them a little more. But the purple is still really off-putting for me. As a result, most of the robot modes are OK but Snap Trap's beast mode and Piranahcon as a whole still look poor to me.

I like the purple, blues and blacks. I think those colours work really well together. Skalor's orangey bits seem to compliment well, but I do think the colour schemes for Seawing and Nautilator are a little off - they're not bad, but the grey doesn't look right.  Snaptrap's yellow doesn't look so bad in Turtle mode, but looks a bit out of place in robot mode. On the whole, I think the darker colour scheme suits them better than the blue/purple/turquoise/pink jamboree of their original incarnation.

Nightbeat, on the other hand, is still big pants. Although the 'cleaned up' Alt mode is better than Energon Hotshot's.

I actually think the original G1 Seacons had a better colour scheme, with the exception of the bright pink feet. The colors just had a more aquatic feel to me and the pink of the sword gave it the impression of coral. I'll be honest, I haven't seen any decent shots of God Neptune, but I think that's something to do tonight.
