Hey guys, i'm new here :)

anyways, was planning to buy either one of these

Takara Henkei Classic Starscream

or

Takara Encore Reissue G1 Starscream

I've seen reviews on them separately and they both seem pretty decent but so far I haven't been able to find a review that compares the both of them so I'm really not sure which one to get! Help would be appreciated! :)

Get the reissue if you want to relive your youth or prefer the more realistic look, get the Henkei if you want something to play with.

The Henkei has articulation in spades and remains faithful to his G1 cartoon counterpart in terms of looks. He is smaller than the original G1 figure and the alt mode is pretty poor, as the underside of the jet looks more bulky than it should. The landing gear on the Henkai is a poor do as well (albeit neatly worked in). Whilst the G1 figure by comparrison, is a bit of a brick, it just looks and feels better. and it has die-cast! hooray for die-cast!

So for a cool collectable, I'd agree with Spec - the G1 would be the one to go for. If you prefer your figures with a little more engineeering and good posability , go for the henkai.

Or, go for the best of both worlds and get the Masterpiece version - although go for the Hasbro release, they've worked out the engineering kinks somewhat and its got the G1 colourscheme.

Yeah, i agree with these guys.  The price tag seems to reflect toy line and "cool" factor.  I hope you got a masterpiece though.  They are really cool.  I only got the Op. Prime 20th anniver.  =(  I need to get more masterpieces, damn it and hasbro needs to put out more (new*) masterpieces too!

And what's wrong with the way they are sold?  I can get a hold of my Encore reissues piss easy.

I agree, I have no problem with how they are sold.

How they are produced on the other hand... did we really need another reissue of Prime, Soundwave, Starscream or Jazz?

The Encore ones aren't so bad because they have their minute differences like the tampo'd faction insignias and whatnot.

That doesn't justify the price for me though. Although I did buy Jazz because TFC#1 has that face problem.
