I am putting together a collection of characters that appeared in the Beast
Wars show and have yet to get a Dinobot.

So which is best, the original or the new Universe version, and why?

Thanks in advance.

The original toy is more show accurate in color and weapons though the universe has better articulation and head sculpt.

If i had to choose it would definitely be the original, because over all i think he would be better to represent the show character.

Original. The new version is quite ugly. I like the chunky-ness of the original. it feels more sturdy and durable too! plus it has a silly battle mask feature that is of no redeeming benefit! hooray!

the transmetal 2 was a clone not the same character.
you have to admit though the original toy looks like it is pregnant.

Henkei has better colours than the Classics version. While it's still not perfect, unless we ever get a Masterpiece figure, it's the best version of Dinobot going. And try swapping the sword with one from original BW Dinobot. The new sword looks dumb.

Neither - you need yourself the Henkei version, my friend!

The new sculpt looks way better, imo. However in terms of quality I can't say because I only own the 10th Anniversary dinobot (which is lovely).

No offence to anyone, but the original G1 Dinobot is
absolutely disgusting. It does not resemble the original
tanky warrior that appeared in the series. However, the
newly released Dinobot from Transformers Universe is much
better, but is terribad with the colours. So unless u plan
to re paint it, just get the Henkei version. Its the jap
version of the universe one, but in the original correct
dinbot colours. Trust, me, its worth its buy.

err..you mean original bw dinobot?

the original toy is cool, nostalgic, and is now vintage. It has its own appeals.

As i said, No offence, just my perspective! yeah im talking
about the BW dinobot. I do agree it is vintage, and im sure
it has its own appeals as a toy, but as a replica of what
it is supposed to look like in the series, it just doesnt
cut it out for me. But yeah im sure
its a great toy in its own right =)

the toys were designed ahead of the tv show, and mainframe did as Sunbow did before them - simplfied some of the designs to make them easier to animate. Dinobot is the only figure that 'suffers' by comparrison to his onscreen counterpart. I still prefer the original toy though. that Universe version is too skinny and looks like pipecleaner. that and i don't really see the point in the redesign - it hasn't added any more posability to the figure. The better likeness isn't all that hot either. same goes for universe cheetor.

Ill agree with you on the universe cheetor, seriously made
it worse in my opinion. I do see where everyone is coming
from now, they sortve ruined the universe dinobot by
changing its transformation, as well as its weapons. His
'sword' looks really bad....like terribad! And his spinning
contraption has been altered, for the worse, as well. The
only thing positive about it is the detail of the face.

From the looks of it the Universe alt mode is much better, too. Again, not show accurate but it looks far more like a Dinosaur.
