the PSP is certianly not the market leader in terms of unit or software sales.
Nintendo DS is.

As long as i get the ps3 at some point, i don't care lol. When it comes out it'll still be the best. I have no money concerns, so whenever is good enough for me.

The best at what pray tell?
While the PS3 will sell well it will have nowhere near the marketshare the PS2 has.

This is true, and it is not down to the PSP as a games console either imo.
I love my PSP, and think it is potentially better than the DS for offering game experiences, but I am still the only person I know who owns one.
Most say it's too expensive, and they feel they're paying a huge chunk of the price for the UMD movie feature which they'll never use. Some don't see the point of movies on tiny screens and those who do already have media players with huge hard drives they can rip several DVD's onto. They don't have to buy films twice or choose between TV watchable or portable; they don't have to carry multiple UMDs around and they don't have to spend any money on additional memory for music.
The general view seems to be that people (in my experience) want Sony to make games consoles that play games and nothing else because the additional features always seem to be pointless or half assed, pale imitations of the real things that wind up more expensive in the long term.

Well if its just on the basis of games then surely the Wii has the market wrapped up! Come on, a totally unique way to play games and certainly the most interactive gaming experience since the overpriced cack that was Virtual Reality. Fact of the matter is that Nintendo ALWAYS make the best games.
Yes the PS2 had some good games, GTA etc, but they get over-milked to the point of boredom, often with an annual near identical sequel being released... and the year after. Nintendo is often guilty of the same, Mario Party anyone?? However all the big name franchises come back with something fresh that you do want to play and experiece, I'm talking the Marios, Zeldas and Metroids of this world.
Then you get other games which slip under the mainstream radar and can be equally awesome, like Eternal Darkness, which personally I prefer over any Resident Evil game.
As for gaming on the go, I'll take my Ipod Video and Ds Lite over a PSP anyday. Mario Kart DS alone justifies the price pour moi.

I agree that some of it is impressive, but some things couldn't impress me less.
Take the movies. It sounds great to say that it plays movies, but as there is nothing to enable watching these movies on a TV, you either have to choose between DVD and portable or buy the same movie twice.
In the long term, that's not great and works out much more expensive than buying a media player with a 60gb or so hard drive, buying DVD's, converting them and having both home and portable versions of the movie.
Similarly, the memory is not a good thing either.
8gb of memory sounds sweet, but the rrp of just 4gb is £140. For a couple of those, you could, again, get a media player with a 60gb hard drive. Even if they sell the 8gb for the price of the 4gb, that's 16gb for the price of 60gb.
BY the time my PSP plays movies and music, stores data like a media player does, it's cost me more than buying a PSP for games and media player for the rest.
That's not impressive.
I am impressed with the wi fi and so on though, as that actually is useful without spending loads of extra cash I'd rather spend on games.

that's true, the WiFi is free unlike the 360 and the DS but the memory is getting cheaper and cheaper, i paid 50 quid for a gig stick, about a month later it was 2 gigs for 50 quid, it shouldn't be long before the 4 gig duo sticks are about the same, once the newer version of the PSP comes out next year the price should drop.
the movies are a problem, but if you can play games and listen to music on the move then you might not want to watch the movies.
socom on the PSP has voice command support as well it's such a versatile device

befor i start who ever sead the honda civic was a chave car...no you are wrong the corsa and any pug are the chav cars of choice kthx
any way when i 1st heard of the PS3 i was happy then after delays and the price tag ive given up im happy i got the 360 ages ago its an awsome machine. maybe i will get a PS3 after the hypes died off i dont know but im fairly sure sony have shafted them selves
as for hand helds the PSP is my fav so what if the DS has 2 the PSP has one biggen and its fine and compared to alot of consoles its games are good since thier focused on short term playing rather then long hours sitting with it (tho thier are a few)

No, you don't. The FS is wifi enabled out-of-the-box. It can access Nintendo's WiFi network on any wireless connection.

That would make sense. March is a terrible time for a console release
-Everyone's already got their Christmas presents -No-one's got any cash left -If it's released in March, some people might be expecting price cuts by Christmas- especially if Microsoft and Ninty try it on.

To be fair people always thought it would be spring before November was given as a date, I think it wil be March- or if not just before Easter.
They will not push it back to next Christmas- they need it for Blu Ray and to start paying back their R&D costs!
