Which is where so many's skepticism lies.

Do you really think Sony are able to produce a £1,000 Blu Ray player and £3-500 games console in one and sell it at the price they're planning without cutting corners?

The chances are that it's going to suffer.
And going off Sony's track record, I'd guess it's going to be a substandard player, disc read errors or both.

Indeed I recall the PS2 was supposed to do the same with DVD. Ever watched a DVD on a PS2?

It sucks!

The lipsync was awful on first-gen PS2s. Noticeable improvement on later models though.

Of course, if the console didn't break so often, I wouldn't have gone through 3 units to find that out.

Am I the only person who is still on their first PS2? I've had it since the day of release and it's still going strong.

Mine's on it's way out now, doesn't play any of the 'blue disks' and takes ages to load. Was hoping to upgrade to the PS3 but it's way too much in price, so it's a Wii on launch date for me! :D

Probably, even I had to get a replacement from Sony due to mine crashing a lot back when GT3 was released.  But I then needed a replacement for the replacement (Within the same week) as it did the same thing and that last PS2 is still working to this day.

The only consoles I've ever had a problem with was my Master System 2 and my Game Cube (Nintendo's customer service was top notch by the way, not often I'm impressed when making a call on warrenty with no proof that the item is still under warrenty)...all others have worked fine as long as I've had them. Although i have to admit my PS2 does seem a little noiseier than it used to.

My first PS2 packed in in less than a fortnight.
My second is still working, but barely.

I've had my PS2 since Feb 2001, and it is still going fine.

Wii launch details for Japan and Americas have been revealed today:

http://uk.gamespot.com/news/6157573.html

Europe launch details are tomorrow. There are loads of rumours going around about the European price and launch date:

March 2007 according to Argos.
BBC say 250 euros (roughly £170)
£210 according to some troll

And this thread is now the general gaming thread.

True, Argos, not that reliable. We'll find out tomorrow for sure.

Weird

I've had mine from the first price drop until now, works super, doesn't scratch disks or do anything different than when new.

The dvd quality's fine too, although it may be due to my scart lead being better than most as i bought a new one to hook up to my stereo system.

From what it sounds like the ps3 is a biatch to develop for and is riddled with problems.

I can't believe they are selling the wii-remote & nun chuck separately!
They are pratically one controller.

Wonder is UK will get Wii Sports in the package? Im not sure if that good since it costs extra, but hopefully it will be good.
