E3 next week, starting with Microsoft's conference on Monday, Sony and Nintendo on Tuesday and everything else on Tuesday-Thursday. Hopefully it will be better than last year.

Aye. Last years was a mess because it was hosted in several hotels. This year its back at the L.A convention center, albeit in a smaller space. I genuinely believe that the content is a lot more exciting than last year, maybe moreso than 2006 too.
All three companies have tricks up their sleeves I'm sure, but so far it seems Sony have too much to feasibly all show. It wasn't until I looked at a list of titles in development that it hit me that there is far too much going on there. Microsoft have had a few things leaked, but still, they should put on an impressive show.
Nintendo? I reckon they'll have a new game with a peripheral. Their peripheral based games have had massive sales.

Gentlemen, I give you the Darwin controller, officially unveiled today for use with the Xbox 360.

Microsoft haven't been developing this, as its 3rd party. Its more responsive than the Wiimote and has already been seen working on past titles.

The makers must be morons. No one's going to buy something that hasn't been made by the console manufacturer, looks rubbish, and has been released halfway through the hardware cycle. Wonder if they just copied Nintendo, or actually put some money into R&D...

It snaps apart for single player two handed gaming, and also two player gaming. What concerns me is the clusterf**k of buttons, theres far too many.

It functions differently. Something about not using IR. Personally I don't care for these things but some do. I'm eager to see if it is a success or it fails.

Why is it a useless piece of tat? surely that remains to be seen by how it's utilised?
The Wii controller isn't a useless piece of tat, it's much the same thing.
That said, I don't think I'll bother personally. I have my wii, which suits me fine for arm-waving games, and I can't see there being many 360 games that will take advantage of this thing. - Doesn't mean it's useless though.

The games I've seen it run on take advantage of it. Tiger Woods, Harry Potter and Lego Starwars. Trouble is that its been introduced too late into the 360's life cycle so it won't be adopted by too many people.

True, but this thing works on ALL games. There wasn't any change to any coding from what I can tell. Could make some of the FPS's more interesting. Wonder what Sony have up their sleeves.
Has no overall effect on me though. Hate the damn things.

No idea. It could be because its not an actual Microsoft endorsed product at the moment, or it could be because they've been asked to not host news about it because it is the actual controller to be unveiled monday. Modus (The company who made it) dropped a few hints that they have worked with one of the two (Sony and Microsoft) but its obviously microsoft as this controller only functions on the 360. I'll post some links to the videos if you like.

If anyone is interested in the PS3 version of Bioshock (Updated visuals, extra levels and all downloadable content from 360 included on disc) then theres a decent offer going on at the GAME website.
You can now preorder it for £30 including free delivery. The price will not go up. You also (If you have a GAME loyalty card) recieve £1.50 worth of points on the loyalty card. (My card has about £70 quid on it thus far! )
Link to an acceptable deal.
Its certainly an offer that competes with importing it from the US.
I wasn't really interested in this game, but I might give it a pop now its at that price.

I'm toying with getting a Wii or PS3 to supplement my 360, which should I go for? The Wii for the novelty value, or the PS3 for hard gaming and blu-ray capabilities?

I'd say it depends on the size of your wallet. I think long term, the PS3 is the better one to go for. Personally I wouldn't buy a console for novelty value, but each to their own.
It also depends on which type of games you like to play and whether you like any particular franchises. Sony's franchises are a very large selling point (and probably the biggest one for me) for anyone to buy a PS3. The same though, can be said for Nintendo. It just happens I prefer more adult games than the child and family orientated Wii.
Both the Wii and the PS3 have good features in the works for them.
Wii:
- Wii Music
- More integration with the DS
PS3:
- Playstation Home (With 3D trophy integration)
- Life with Playstation
- Video Store
- Most of its core franchise games ahead of it.
Are you a multiplayer gamer? Or a single Player gamer? (Mostly)
Most games will be available on PS3 and Xbox 360, so if you aren't interested in the Sony Franchises, the best bet would be a Wii.

Do you have a wife and kids? If so buy a Wii.
Nintendo exclusives will be far better than the PS3 ones, unless you are a FF
nut.
PS3 is to similar to the 360, for something different the Wii wins.
You will enjoy both to be fair, I am sure the PS3 will get a price cut pre
Xmas, wait and get both

Thats a matter of opinion!
For me:
- God of War
- Final Fantasy
- Tekken
- Uncharted
- Metal Gear Solid
- Team ICO games (I have some sneaky info on the 2 (Yes 2!) new ones!

- Gran Turismo
- Etc
are better than:
- Zelda
- Mario (All 1,000,001 games!
)
- Smash Bro's
- Wii Fit
- etc
I do agree that the prices will come down before Xmas. Best to wait. E3 could have more surprises for us than we think. I've just got wind of a potential Playstation Home tidbit which if true sounds nice. Bowt bloody time Sony!
