I've seen a couple of OPs on ebay but been unable to find health and saftey guidlines or any other plush/soft toy transformers.
The missus is expecting our first child and although she's a she, she's bloody well getting something transformer related!
I'm interested in any G1 figures suitable for young children. As ever, your advice and insight is most appreciated.

I've got the plush Optimus, and it seems sturdy enough to me. I think it will be ok before teething. Then you can get gobots. I don't want your baby choking on my recommendation though, so have a look for yourself.

More important, does Matt get a share of that $200? If not he might be able to sue her for copyright infringement.

The Softimus Prime and Slumblebee are perfectly suitable for little kids, there are no swallow-able bits, and when they transform into vehicles there is no way the kid can get their face trapped in the toy or anything. In other words, get them They're great. My daughter has a decent enough collection considering her mother is an evil anti-transformers heathen. Toys she's got which are suitable are probably the Movie Cyber Slammers, Armada Laserbeak and the aforementioned cuddlies. She's also got Armada super optimus, but she's only allowed to play with that under supervision, more for the toy's safety than hers.
Although to be honest, i'd wait til the kid was at least 1 before you start brainwashing them, otherwise your tfs will just end up getting dribbled and pood and thrown up on.

My girl who's 17months has had RID spychanger prowl since she was a few weeks old (the only thing that would keep her quiet in the car!).
Obviously kept it in car mode and it now has a few teeth marks but no little bits to trap her fingers and no parts to fall off.
