Let's put it like this shall we, the English dub for that series (along with Masterforce and Victory) was so bleeding awful and full of inaccuracies, that almost everybody here on this forum will tell you to watch it in its original language with English subtitles instead.

the english sub is hideous.

Headmasters is both yes and no seris 4. It follows on from season 3 but it discounts the american series 4, the rebirth 1,2,3. Theres a lot of differences but it is a good series

Well, actually I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't. If you remember, Headmasters had it's fair share of errors in the subtitles as well...and the notoriously bad one was the one where it suddenly started showing subs from a future episode.

Still, I'd rather pick the subs over the dub anyday. And not just because the dub is severely out of synch on the DVD.

Fat chance. Releasing it in USA period is unlikely, the odds of anyone producing a decent dub are astronomical. So just accept your fate and watch the damn thing with subtitles.

i dont think its will be just dubbed

as its a japanese only release there it will be in japanese language with subs, then in the options you have to change it to english dubbed, well you do on my headmasters anyhow

The official Masterforce and victory dvds are only available in subtitled form anyway. I recommend watchin headmasters with the atrocious dubbing for at least one or two episodes as it is hilarious. Have a pint or two of vodka first though...

The dub has an annoying habit of filling in every other sentence with a some variation of "don't you know". Apparently, the voice actors had never heard of this thing called "timing".

I got Masterforce for Xmas from my wife. She'd heard me mention Headmasters as the Takara series (trying to show off my Transformers knowledge) and she got me that instead of Headmasters. Anyway I've just bought HM and am going to sit through them all next week.
One question though, as Victory is all in Japaneese as well and is alot different to the original series do you recommend it or should I just leave it well alone?

Victory is a series that needs to be experienced at least once, even if it's only to see how mind numbingly dull it truly is...

You should definitely buy Victory. Then, if you ever have any problems falling asleep, put it on. It will take 2, maybe 3 episodes, and you're sound asleep for hours.
