Been checking out the BM toys on seibs - their group galleries seem to show a massive difference in size, with NightScream toweriing over Primal and co.

Is this correct, or is it that they simply only had certain size ranges available when making galleries?

Its correct. Nightscream, Rattrap and Jetstorm are all bigger then they should be (not to mention Supreme Cheetor and RID Air Attack Primal) while Silverbolt and the Tank Drone should have been upped by one size class at the least

ahhh... so they would look slightly more in scale if Air Attack Primal was used? Might have a look.  Nightscream looks pathetically big though.

Whats the best BM Cheetor toy btw?

The Deluxe sized one. Supreme Cheetor is huge and regarded as one of the worst figures in a long time due to the supreme lack of articulation and detail.

While Perceptor is technically right, I think my answer is more helpful.

quite role reversal, much?

I'll continue to ponder. Rough scale is always a big issue for me, display-wise. Though I think I'll probably get a Cheetor regardless of whether I go any further into the line as he was the character that gave my collecting a second wind.  Well that's not true, Supreme Cheetor was the TOY that made me think again... but it looks awful, so a smaller one would be more desirable.

If you have to get a Cheetor for BM, then go for the Universe version of Nightslash Cheetor

I beg to differ, the Deluxe Cheetor is damn nice, hard to pose due to his legs, but is great. I had him, and managed to get hold of scale sized swords too from my haul from Scotland.

I reccomend Rattrap too, hes nice and big, fun too!

Isn't the Night Slash Cheetor mold notorious for having such a rubbish transformation?

I'd go with the deluxe one myself. I don't own any Cheetor figure so I couldn't really say, but to me he looks like the standard 'must have' for the BM character.
