This is something of a teaser for me; back in school, in the good old days of DT, I used a Cheetor toy as my project basis. This was because we had to use a toy that was currently on sale. I didn't own a cheetor, so I simply picked him out of Argos, in ode to my "old" hobby of collecting transformers.
In a way, this toy must've been important to me. Why else would I have started looking at transformers toys again? So although I can't even remember what it looked like, it holds a fond place in my... prezzieness.
Now here's the difficult bit; can anybody identify this Cheetor? I remember very little about him but here goes;
- He was yellow, possibly with spots (massive help I'm sure
)
- I kept referring to him as the Mighty Cheetor. I don't know if this was tongue in cheek or if this indicates something of his product description.
- I didn't have the internet and I deffinitly saw him in a catalogue, presumably argos... but I don't know if it was in date or not to be honest. This is because of the timing...
You see, the project was commenced when I was in my GCSE years, without doubt. My GCSE Time would've ran from September 1999 until July 2001.
I'm inclined to believe this was in the second year of my project as I remember certain little things... I remember the teachers were so inept that they made us come in over our February holiday to carry on working. And I remember first hearing R.E.M.'s "comeback" song "Imitation of Life" in the technician's room at this time. So if I'm right, this would put us somewhere between September 2000 and July 2001.
So my question is, was a cheetor toy of any variety, BW/BM, released sometime around or just prior to this time? And can you identify him for me?
Thanks in anticipation
