Ooh just seen the season 1 box of beast machines at asda. Doesnt look like there are any extras though. Might just stick with my sexy region 1 version... Although the new packaging looks very lovely.

I bought this from HMV the other day. You can tell it's a cash-in on the new film because "Transformers" is written in a similar font and the "Their planet. A new battle." tagline has obvious comparisons to the "Their war. Our world." line for the new film. This is actually the first time I've seen Beast Machines in any form aside from the odd random episode on what was then Fox Kids and poor-quality downloads and I have to say I like it. The characters all have their own distinctive personalities and even Rattrap becomes useful depsite his appalling robot mode. It's intersting to see the stages of growth Cheetor has ghone though as he's evolved through Beast Wars and now this from the young brash kid to the young "man" seeking to make his own mark in the world. I think the animation is generally very good except Cybertron seems to look very bland. But what's the deal with trying to rewrite Cybertron's history a la an organic planet when they had stuck to it all so well in Beast Wars? Also, the capital of Cybertron being "Cybertropolis"? What happned to Iacon? But I'm still enjoying it more than being annoyed by it. Play have series 2 listed as coming out in the 19th of November so I'm looking forward to that to see how the story continues.

Probably the same thing that happened to the Autobots. Or a bit more similar, to Leningrad. It got renamed.

The answer is in season 2.

Once season 1 gets going, after episode 8, it is generally enjoyable. Season 2 is much better, even with the controversial ending.

Here I picked season 1 volume 1 and volume 2 at Woolworths for $12 each (I guess about 4-5 quid each), so about 9-10 pounds for all of season 1.

Yeah it is obviously trying to latch on to the Transformers Movie market, with 'transformers' in the title being more prominent than the beast machines (I originally noticed it because I saw Transformers in the title).
