I've not seen any of Beast Wars and as far as I'm aware, you can't easily get them in the Uk anyway.  Is it worth me getting the Beast Machines DVD?

For the love of Benji, don't get the Beast Machines DVDs. However, I must state that I'm very bias against the cartoon so take my post with a grain of salt.

You have to see Beast Machines to decide for yourself.

I wouldn't say the series was awful, as there were some good points to  it that rivalled most of the controversial story elements.

But to be perfectly honest with you, it's one of those series that you really need to see for yourself so you make up your own opinions about it.

I'm more than happy to see it myself (if anything, hearing you guys say that has made me more intruiged!) but I'm just worried that having not seen Beast Wars, I'll not have a clue what's going on. Is that a valid fear, or no reason to miss out?

Not really. BM is a series you can watch without seeing any other series, HOWEVER, if you have seen all of G1 and BW, you will understand other script points and references.

Matalan sell the beast machines series ridiculously cheap. I picked up seasons one and two for 6.99 each.

Couldn't get my discount off of them though. Bloody stingy matalan. Haha.

ahh I like the sound of that.    I always planned to get both BW & BM, but was going to hold off if I had to watch them in order.

By the way, am I correct in my assumption that we still can't buy the complete BW in region 2?  I believe I've seen a couple of cheap 3-6 episode DVDs, but that's all I know of

Yup. Season 2 has better pacing and more things happen, with more references to G1. It will be interesting to see what you think of the ending.

I'm looking forward to that Although I must admit, I'm still a bt confused about why Black Arachnia thought Thrust was Silverbolt.

I wonder if you can play Australian DVDs? I know they are PAL and with the exchange rate you would probably get a decent deal :P

Also, has no UK company obtained the rights for BW yet?

?

It was different and had a continuing story. Kept my interest more than any G1 or RID.
