Better than the previous issue, though startlingly unoriginal. Amusing human characters and Decepticon dialogue that doesn't make me cry tears of shame aside, I'm beginning to really dislike the use of cartoon styled character models. The dichotomy of pretentious ultra-violence and tonka robots makes me feel like a distraught 5 year old.

I am ok with the toon art.

I am worried (and ok its only issue 2) that I am going to have to sit through
3-4 months of Earth having its ass kicked.

Not to feature the Bots at all seemed an odd choice after the tease last issue.

I was wondering how long it'd take for someone to introduce a Witwicky into the series...
Frenzy was pretty cool, i hope they explain how he ended up on Earth (unless he's been asleep in soundwave's tummy since the Spotlight)
They've messed a bit too much with Ravage's mouth, too many teeth and such. Also they keep calling him a bloody dog.
Also, the throwaway lines about the Machination being shut down better not be all we hear about that, or i'll be well grumpy.

It feels like a lazy rehash of numerous old-school storylines. Ravage following humans, the army (GI Joe without the GI) getting pulped, Decepticons talking not doing, the Machination (Robot Master by numbers) getting shut down/being a cover story. The pace feels horrendous too. We're in the middle of a war lads, let's all have a slow expository dialogue about the secret abilities of new character Frenzy so that everyone's up to speed.

The decepticons' plan seems basically flawed anyway, why just attack one city? Why not get all your troops from cybertron and do some decent invasion funkyness? Surely New York's suffered enough recently?

New York never seems to catch a break, dude.  Every self-respecting monster slash alien slash giant robot war machine with death and destruction on his slash her slash its mind, heads for either people-packed New York or Tokyo (look how many times Godzilla has trashed Tokyo!)  Maybe next time, writers will show a modicum of creativity and have this kind of siege occur in Washington, DC, being, as it is, the USA's capital and all...

Could be worse, it could be just four months worth of ultrapoo a la The Ascending.

Yeah. It's slow starting. but at least it's going somewhere- the artwork's excellent and the dialogue isn't as trite as Furman's.

Agreed. I am lost with this series. It does feel like a Dreamwave Comic. It seems very much at odds with IDWs established continuity. What is going on? After injecting a fresh new approach to the TFs, this feels very much a step back and like it appeals to the hardcore fanbase who only want to see the TFs as they remember them in their original incarnation, 'cos anything else is fallacy.

I see they've bulked up Astrotrain in terms of his physical mass.  In the various '-Ation' series, he was the same size as the other 'Cons, but he's now a fair bit larger, which makes sense, given his space shuttle and locomotive modes.  You'd expect him to be larger than, say, Runabout.
Also, the shot of Devastator on the final page was cool- though I have to admit, I preferred Dreamwave's splash panel of him in their first G1 miniseries.  As I said, though, it did look good - I'm keeping my hopes up for this series...

Might be worth pointing out that, given AHM's 12-issue run, it'll be the first IDW TF series to require 2 separate volumes when it comes time to bring out the TPB.  That, or one giant-size book.
